Careful What You Wish For...

I received PS CS6 from my DAD for Christmas. YAY ME!!!! (well)...actually, I kind of wanted to cry.  It is going to take me a while to get my head back on straight.  You see, I've been working with Photoshop Elements 8 on a Bamboo Fun tablet for the last two years.

It took me that long to learn it and accumulate a set of brushes I loved and knew how to work. My style was really coming along.

Today, I updated my tablet drivers & installed CS6...and tried and failed to load my brush set.  Oh, they load.  They just don't stay...and when I use them they react differently.  Way differently...

Now I am all confused...and trying to get my setups the way I like them and figuring out what does what, and really, REALLY wishing I had a manual.

So, here is a little guy I practiced on. Change is scary!

  1. Oh I feel your pain on this one! A couple of buddies sent me new textures and new brushes that they made....and now I'm all confused!

Bonus...I have some fantastic new brushes I love...be happy to share them if you want more change!

    1. My sister bought me a great reference manual for CS6. I am feeling a bit less overwhelmed now. I am just a paper manualkind of gal.

  2. It is crazy how different programs can be! Such a learning curve. I hope it is a fun one for you, Jenn! Such a sweet gift from your dad! Happy New Year, sweet friend!

  3. Ah, Photoshop...the most unintuitive program on the planet. It's like we have to have a PhD in Photoshop to figure the thing out. I remember when I just wanted to make a square and I was ready to pull my hair out. Thank goodness for Google and Youtube tutorials! Once you get it though, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!

    1. I get overwhelmed by all the choices and possibilities. I've got to limit myself, in a sense, in order to be productive. I finally figured out what happens when you mess around too much with the brush presets. I am learning to leave those alone unless I save a favorite first and then mess around with it.

  4. Looks good to me. Hey, I just bought myself CS6. Haven't received it yet in the mail but believe it or not all I have at home is the antique PS 7.0, so I believe it's time for the upgrade. I had fun animating a GIF at work on CS4 so I want to start making them at home, too, for the blog. Can't wait to get it.

All the very best to you in 2013, Jen!

    1. Have fun with it. You'll not have any problems since your leap isn't nearly as big. I am migrating from Photoshop Elements 8...ha. Happy New Year.
