About

Jenn Bower is a children's picture book writer and illustrator who loves crafting her characters one line at a time.  She is represented by Danielle Smith, Associate Agent at Foreword Literary.

Jenn is an active member of the SCBWI-Carolinas regional chapter, attended UNC-Chapel Hill for Journalism & Advertising and earned her BFA-Interior Design from Winthrop University.

Citing among her many influences are cartoon modern advertising, illustration & animation; the works of Bill Peet, J P Miller, vintage Golden Books, the textural paper collage work of Jack Ezra Keats, and early Disney animation.  She works with digital techniques to replicate the look of pencil, gouache , crayon, and cut paper.  Tree hugging, animal loving, human observances (especially relationships between parent and child), humor, wit & ‘snark all infuse her work’. Deep down there is a satirist dying to come out.

A mother of (1) hipster teen (who was a 2013 National Gold Medal Scholastic Art & Writing Award winner & way more talented than she), a Doberman/Hound puppy, an *EXTRA* large cat and a Budgie bird she is constantly corralling the food chain and keeping the house clean.  In her down time she likes to read, knit, ride horses, play tennis or stream hours of Cartoon Network Shows to relax. Oh, and she can't live without coffee.
