So Proud.
My daughter earned a Regional Gold Key Award in the 2013 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. There were a whopping 39 award recipients from her school alone, out of 2500 Regional entries. What a talented group of kids. They are our future and I am so proud.
I am wishing the best of luck to all the Gold Key Award recipients as their work now goes up to NYC to be juried by Scholastic for the Nationals.

That's AWESOME!!! BIG congrats to her for an amazing piece of art & a great accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteI won a Scholastic gold key when I was a kid, & remember the excitement!!!! Although I *also* remember my mom making me wear a skirt (which I never did, so I had to borrow one from her) & when they called me up to the podium to collect my little key pin, they called me "Michael." I refused to get up - especially wearing a skirt! My dad hissed "That's YOU!!" (despite me responding "that's NOT my name!") & shoved me into the aisle. So I walked up to the podium, accepted my award, and to the guy's horor, leaned into the microphone and said, "It's MICHELE." The room errupted into laughter. Yeah, great memory. :)
